Restaurant Review: Cedric Bistro

The perfect end to a whirlwind weekend spent with my visiting cousin and her fiancé full of great food, copious drinks, and unforgettable conversation, Cedric Bistro delivered again.    Ever since it opened, Cedric has been one of my favorite new restaurant editions to Harlem.  If I want a cozy space with a calm patronage so I can chat with my visitors, I bring out-of-town company here more than anywhere else in Harlem.    I don’t know if it’s my unhealthy obsession with their Provençales Mussels (ask for extra bread for soaking up the broth), their unpretentious, warm, and attentive service, or the great crowd that is tucked into intimate tables in their well-decorated dining room, but Cedric is one of my top-five for Harlem eating.

We have been here more times than we can count, and every visit we have gotten the Mussels Provençales.  Before I liked mussels well enough, but after having these I love them.  If mussels are your bag, then these are like the Classic Q Fran by Marc by Marc Jacobs.  They are that good.

  • Friendly and attentive service with a great accent
  • Thoughtful and artfully crafted dishes
  • The Chef knows how to cook whatever protein you order to the right doneness
  • Extensive Brunch menu
  • Drinks are poured well, cocktails are tasty and unique
  • Everything we have ordered is outstanding
  • Menus available online contain some different items (if you really like something on the online menu you should call to see if they can still server it)
  • Due to a switch in the executive chefs, you can no longer get the grape tartlet appetizer & a few other items on the in-restaurant menu
  • The tomatoes are bad! One of the best local offerings this time of year are the tomatoes…why did I get pale cardboard tomatoes on my plate?
